Award-winning photographer and videographer Nicky Almasy is based in Shanghai where his work covers a city in a thrust of one of the most rapid urban transformations in human history. Nicky presently commissioned to shoot the construction of Shanghai Tower, which, when completed in 2014, will be Asia's tallest building and the world's second largest building after the Burj Khalifa. His architectural portfolio also includes work for B+H Architects, the company behind the Shanghai Hong Kong New World Tower. Other clients of note include audio giant Sennheiser, K-Array, Conde Nast, Financial Times, Wallpaper, city magazines That's Shanghai, That's Beijing and business publication Shanghai Economic Review. He is also commissioned for Expat Essentials, a guidebook series dedicated to the relocation process covering Singapore, Bangkok, Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong. Nicky has also shot the cover for Where Singapore, which is part of the Where group of tourist magazines, published monthly in the US and in 10 cities globally. In 2013 Nicky won the ENR Award in America for the best architectural photo of 2012. His photo is also used for the ENR Award of Excellence Ceremony (see news). In November 2013 he was also published in the London Financial Times with a leading article. The photo was also published in the London Daily Mail (see news). In his photo essay work, Nicky gives a human face to the rapidly changing China narrative. His portfolio includes migrant workers, roadside vendors and musicians in the city's re-emerging jazz scene. Outside photography, Nicky's interest span music and filmmaking. At present, he's working on a feature-length documentary on the construction of Shanghai Tower and its architect, Marshall Strabala, working as his personal photographer since 2012.
